Assistant Relationship Manager - Credit Origination & Underwriting
The Assistant Relationship Manager – Credit Origination & Underwriting is responsible of the full end to end process of credit applications starting with client engagements, writing of the credit applications, presentation of credit papers, assisting the deal team with implementation of the facility for CIB Clients across all sectors Trade, FI, Corporate coverage, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Credit Underwriting & Analysis:
- Perform comprehensive financial statement analysis, including ratio analysis, cash flow analysis, and leverage assessment.
- Assess the borrower’s overall risk profile by reviewing historical financial performance, management quality, competitive positioning, and market conditions.
- Evaluate collateral adequacy, structure credit facilities, and recommend appropriate terms and conditions.
- Assign internal risk ratings in accordance with the bank’s policies and methodologies.
- Credit Paper Preparation & Presentation:
- Own and prepare in-depth credit paper that succinctly describes the borrower’s financial health, industry outlook, credit structure, and key risk factors.
- Present credit recommendations to the Credit Committee or approving authorities, addressing any follow-up questions and concerns promptly and effectively.
- Ongoing Portfolio Management:
- Upon request from Relationship team, check compliance of assigned accounts with loan covenants, financial reporting, and other credit conditions.
- Upon request from Relationship team, conduct periodic credit reviews, update risk ratings as necessary, and highlight any early warning signals.
- Proactively identify clients or sectors experiencing stress and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Regulatory & Policy Adherence:
- Ensure all credit activities comply with the bank’s credit policy, regulatory standards, and internal audit requirements.
- Keep current with changes in banking regulations, credit standards, and financial reporting requirements.
- Market & Industry Research:
- Stay informed about industry developments, macroeconomic trends, and relevant market shifts that may affect the bank’s corporate credit portfolio.
- Contribute to industry studies, market intelligence reports, and sector-specific lending strategies.
- Process Improvement & Efficiency:
- Identify opportunities to streamline the credit underwriting process, reduce turnaround times, and enhance the quality of credit deliverables.
- Recommend and implement best practices and tools that improve analytical accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide management with accurate, up-to-date dashboard summaries on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, ensuring all data points (e.g., submission date, review stages, pending items, approval timelines) are clearly visible and professionally presented. Consistently highlight processing bottlenecks and recommend actionable solutions for streamlining workflow.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- BAC+3 – Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
- At least 3 years’ working experience in corporate credit analysis, commercial lending, or investment banking.

- Possess good knowledge of the economic, fiscal, regulatory, and legal environment
- Excellent knowledge of banking and financial regulations
- Technical Skills: Strong financial modeling, credit analysis, and understanding of accounting principles. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, credit risk systems, and relevant financial analysis software.
- Analytical Abilities: Exceptional quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills to articulate credit opinions to stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
