COVID 19 - Relief Programmes
The Bank of Mauritius has provided a Special Relief Ampunt of Rs 5 Billion through banks to meet the cash flow and working capital requirements of economic operators, including Small and Medium Enterprises and small entrepreneurs (including rental of office space), which are being directly impacted by COVID-19 and also to safeguard employment and ensure business continuity.
Effective date of the program: March 23, 2020 to end of June 2022.
Who are eligible to benefit from the "Support program"?
- Economic operators who have been impacted by the Covid-19 and able to prove it.
- Existing customers, as well as prospects, with priorities granted to existing customers.
- Customers benefiting from these facilities should demonstrate that they have made every effort not to dismiss their employees.
Indicative amounts at a fixed rate of 2.5% p.a, that can be disbursed to any customer in the undermentioned sectors are as follows:
o Hospitality : Rs 40M
o Manufacturing: Rs 25M
o Agro Industries: Rs 5M
o SME : Rs 2M
o Any other sector which has been demonstrably impacted by COVID-19: Rs 2M

In collaboration with the Bank of Mauritius, banks have put forward special initiatives to support those affected by the Covid-19 situation.
Effective date of the Support Program: as from April 1, 2020 until 30th June 2022.
Who is eligible?
Existing clients with Household Loans (husband and wife jointly or a single parent) with monthly basis salary not exceeding Rs 50 000 and impacted by COVID-19.
Household loans include all existing rupee loans which have been disbursed to a Household by a commercial bank.
Overdrafts, credit cards and other credit facilities such as Leasing are not included.
This measure will not take into account any arrears on the capital and interest accrued on household loan prior to 1st of April 2020.
Criteria for the support program
Households with monthly basic salary not exceeding Rs 50, 000 and having a household loan:
6 months moratorium on capital repayments up to the 30th June 2022.
Individuals drawing a monthly basic salary not exceeding Rs 50,000:
6 months on both capital and interest repayments up to the 30th June 2022.
